An interesting Joseki variation

.
Today I discovered an interesting Joseki, I have never seen before. Below you may find a brief discussion, covering its main variations.

Basic Dia:

This position occurs halfway through a popular Joseki. Blacks marked move aims to close Withe in, building outward influence. The most common responce is Withe A, but B is also possible.

Dia 2: Common Development

The sequence from 1 to 11 forms a well known Joseki. Black accomplishes his objectives, building formidable outward influence. However Withe takes territory while getting Sente.

Dia 3: A Variation

The wedge of the marked move is another option. After Black ataris and Withe pulls out, Black can choose between A and B.

Dia 4: A Joseki?

The sequence to 21 can be found in many Joseki-books. However Withe still needs a move to defend on the right side and Black seems so be satisfied. In fact one of the professionals supervising the Insei league commented, that this sequence is not so nice for Withe. Also it is hardly ever played in professional Go (source: Moyo Go).
Still this is recognized as a kind of Joseki.

Dia 5: A different approach

Instead of connecting at 12 Black plays the simple Atari of 11, stressing the center. after Black peeps with 15 and hanes with 17, Withe lacks liberties, so he is sealed in after Black 19. This pattern is often played in actual games.
According to the pro who discussed this pattern with us, black is thick and a little better of. However the evalutation of this result depends upon the overall position.
